I’ve talked a bit before about my views on karma and how they differ from some common beliefs and expectations of how it works. As a person who carries a lot of weight from some of the most violent times in history, I find it more important than ever to talk about what we need to do to heal our negative karma together.
Karma is the energy of what goes into a situation. Negative karma comes from creating or participating in fearful, terrifying, violent, or otherwise destructive experiences. Positive karma comes from creating or participating in healing, loving, and constructive experiences. No matter who you are or what you’ve done, everyone has the chance to choose love and healing over negative actions.
In my perspective, being the victim of violence generates an unspeakable amount of negative karma. Being a perpetrator of violence obviously generates negative karma as well. Nobody in this situation heals the soul or “pays off debt” by being a victim of violence and hatred. Violence and hatred only create violence and hatred.
For all the negative karma that we as souls have picked up throughout our soul journey, the only way to relieve ourselves of it is to heal, to love, and to seek the light. If you have perpetrated violence in one lifetime, you don’t pay off debt by being killed by your victim in the next. That just creates more negative karma for everyone. Revenge doesn’t heal. Choosing to love does.
If you can’t address the people who have wronged you or the people you have wronged directly, spread healing to others instead. Put your energy into things that make you and others happy. Put yourself in as much positive energy as you can. This means that no matter how dark our souls have been in our journey, we can always be redeemed. We can always start to take responsibility for the energy we put into the world.
